Sixty Weak Knees

Lounge! An Intersection of Art & Design featuring: Sixty Weak Knees, an installation by Matthew Geller

Arthouse

Austin, Texas

November 20, 2004 – January 16, 2005

Organized by Arthouse Adjunct Curator, Regine Basha and Kevin S. Alter, Associate Dean, School of Architecture, The University of Texas at Austin

The installation was the physical manifestation of Lounge! –a temporary forum for programs and discussions regarding the blurring of art, architecture and design in modern and contemporary culture. There were 30 single chairs, 15 double chairs and 4 tables. There were two configurations for the chairs and tables. One when the space functioned as a lounge and another when there were movies, lectures or performances. For these events the large table was tilted vertically such that the bottom of the table became a movie screen. Chairs would be unhooked from the ceiling and re-hooked on different eyehooks to increase the number of seats that could view the movie screen.

Plywood, aircraft cable, rubber, paint - Space 3,000 sq. ft.
